Silk-Cashmere - The Mixture

 Cashmere wool is the ultimate premium fiber, derived from the hair of the cashmere goat. Although it is one of the most luxurious materials, not all cashmere is created equal. Softness, insulation, durability and fluffiness vary greatly between good cashmere and cheaper alternatives.

 We only use cashmere wool from Inner Mongolia. Here, the extreme temperature changes between day and night encourage the growth of a "comforter", a fiber with exceptional thermoregulation properties that protects against both low and high temperatures. The selected fibers can reach an average length of 40 mm and a fineness of 15.5 microns.

 Each year, a maximum of 250 g of the basic fiber can be obtained from each goat. After combing and removing the raw fiber, only about 100 g of it can be used. This is why cashmere is so rare and exclusive.
 Silk has been one of the most valuable materials in the textile industry for many hundreds of years. Only about 1% of the fibers produced worldwide are silk fibers. Silk-cashmere blends are particularly suitable for people with sensitive skin and combine the beneficial properties of both materials by being both warm and soft on the skin. In our silk-cashmere quality, 55% mulberry silk is added to the yarn as the main ingredient. This significantly improves the fabric properties of the product. The fabric literally takes on a silky sheen and a very pleasant, temperature-balancing feel, especially in the spring and summer months.
 Since pure cashmere tends to peel due to its fiber structure, silk counteracts this. The peeling behavior is significantly less and the moisture transport from the skin is significantly higher than with pure cashmere. It is practically the most functional of all natural materials. It is the fabric of kings.
 We therefore only use 55% silk / 45% cashmere qualities with raw yarns in NM 2/48, 7 Gauche.
