The annual calendar
Watches with an annual calendar often only reveal their true value at second glance. Although there are numerous other watch models that at least show the current date and sometimes the day of the week, most of them run for a maximum of three months without manual correction being necessary. If you want a little more comfort, you can hardly avoid a watch with an annual calendar.
What does annual calendar actually mean?
In these watches, the mechanics of the date display are designed in such a way that they automatically take into account the different month lengths that occur throughout the year, with the exception of February, so that a manual correction only has to be made at the end of February in order to set the watch forward to March 1st.
Although mechanical watches with an annual calendar are generally more expensive than models without this complication, they are also significantly cheaper than watches with a so-called perpetual calendar, whose mechanics are able to display the date accurately at least until the year 2100 without intermediate corrections.
